A non-exhaustive list of "Firsts" for the City of Red Bank we have accomplished or started since I was elected in 2020

Established Citizen Advisory Boards to empower neighbors to be decision-makers in our community; currently we have Parks & Recreation, Nonprofit,Cemetery, Festival Planning, and Public Art Boards

Created a Department of Community Development, including the hiring of the City’s first ever on-staff City Planner, and embarked on the City’s first-ever Comprehensive/Master Plan

In progress to establish the City's first-ever Capital Improvement Program (CIP)

Conducted the City’s first-ever Pavement Conditioning Index (PCI), so we would know what condition all 72 miles of roads in Red Bank are in to help establish a repaving plan

In progress to complete the first-ever Stormwater infrastructure inventory through federal grant funds (a utility the City has managed since 2002)

Completed long-awaited right turn lane onto Ashland Terrace

Implemented at least a $15 minimum wage for all full-time employees (long overdue; some firefighters were making $11/hour in 2020)

Adopted Red Bank's first-ever Parks & Recreation Master Plan in August 2024

Created official City of Red Bank email addresses for all elected officials and all staff to improve transparency, accessibility, and accountability

Passed ordinance making mural art legal

Installed AEDs at all department facilities and all parks and recreation public spaces

Empowered a City employee to become our first-ever certified Human Resources Professional

Installed public Wi-Fi at Red Bank Community Center

Passed ordinance setting requirements for responsible development on steep slopes
-
Completed the City's first-ever sidewalk inventory to help us determine their condition and where new sidewalks are needed for improved connectivity

In progress to complete traffic safety study at Morrison Springs/Dayton Blvd

Completed White Oak/Stringers Ridge Connector Trail, connecting Red Bank to Chattanooga for pedestrians and cyclists
-
Created a multitude of accessible public input opportunities, including community meetings, convenient online surveys, and citywide mailers to reach those without internet access

Published new City website with online applications and services, active social media outreach, and monthly e-newsletter for residents

Promoted internal employee to become the City's first-ever Facilities Manager

Installed ADA compliant automatic door openers at City Hall and Police Dept

Installed the City's first-ever EV charging stations through a federal grant

Installed the City's first-ever bike repair stations through donations from the White Oak Bicycle Co-op
-
Began street-sweeping program (to keep roadways clean and to remove debris before it ends up in stormwater culverts and causes blockages/flooding)

Built the City's first-ever inclusive & accessible playground at White Oak Park with assistance from grant funds

Installed first-ever signalizations at crosswalks across Dayton Boulevard

Hired the City’s first-ever Parks & Recreation Manager, who created Food Truck Fridays, Community Movie Nights, Farmer’s Markets, quarterly clean-up days, Active Older Adults classes, and expanded Christmas Festival & Parade and Jubilee events

Built covered seating and shelter at the White Oak Park Dog Park

Received a grant from the CARTA Care-a-Van program to establish the first form of public transit in our city since 1996

In progress to complete Small Area Study of the Former Red Bank Middle School site with ample public input

In progress to complete a new land swap agreement with the National Park Service to replace cancelled 2011 agreement and remove Red Bank's red-flag status at the State and Federal level
